PAWS, PANTHERS AND PARIS

Mike Raab

THE PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM is part of Monty’s Home, a non-profit canine rescue organization in Pender County, North Carolina. Shelter dogs are selected and taken to the Pender County Correctional Facility for an 8-week obedience training program manned by selected inmates and then the pets are adopted out to new owners who have applied for these dogs. Mike Raab, following the film festival success of his short documentary, “Church of the Good Thief,” is focusing his camcorder on this program and writing a theme song as well, “Today.” Inmates at the Facility will be auditioning ala “American Idol” to sing the song on the documentary soundtrack. For more information on this program go to www.montyshome.org.

THEY ALL LOVE THE NFL and even though the season is months away, our football-loving Bandits are getting ready. Who are they rooting for? Jack lives near Orlando FL (how about those Bucs?). Mike is 4 hours away from Charlotte NC (Panthers sound just about right). Joe is north of NYC (love those Giants!) And so is Fred (What? The Broncos?!!)

Fred just penned “God! I Love The NFL!” with opening lyrics “Sunday afternoon, and all is well, I got my brew and my friends and the NFL.” The demo has since gone to Mike to do with it whatever he does and hopefully it will be completed and ready for public listening soon. Meanwhile, please don’t ask Fred about Jay Cutler, o.k.?

FROM PARIS WITH PSYCHEDELIC LOVE comes MORNING magazine publisher Iker Spozio, who is also an inspired illustrator. You can check out his magazine at http://morningmagazine.blogspot.com. The magazine, according to the blogspot, is: "devised by Iker Spozio devoted to cult sixties/seventies music. It will feature exclusive interviews and original artwork." Issue #2 will be out sometime in May and will have a feature on the Jelly Bean Bandits as well as some amazing artwork we were privileged to preview. You can see some of Iker's artwork at www.flickr.com/ikerspozio and at www.myspace.com/ikerspozio

is a hit!  Over 1,000 visitors came through our
online doors the first month we were open.

Remember the Lost Souls? Bull Angus? The Goodtimes? Richie Scarlet? Storm Kings? They're all inside The Museum, along with dozens of other great bands and musicians from the region. "The Best Videotapes You've Never Seen" section brings back outstanding live performances from the Seventies and the Eighties. "The Gallery" is an amazing ever-growing collection of the rarest and most interesting photos from that era. "The Jukebox" has a one-of-a-kind collection of music that you can listen to and enjoy. And you're invited to drop a line to Museum Mail and stay in contact with the musicians you enjoyed and the friends you made back then. Come often, stay late - we're open 24/7!
